If you cannot keep your current time during the summer, please let me know ASAP and we will work something out.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • I had the opportunity to see one of my students, Kyle Olsen, play Jean ValJean in Hale Centre Theatre's production of Les Miserable. It reminded me of how hard work and dedication can really pay off!  You are all doing such great things! I am so proud of you!
  • Speaking of Kyle, if you have lessons on THURSDAY between 2:30-6:30, Kyle will be sitting in to observe.
  • The next "extra" week will be over the June 30-Jul 4.  Keep that in the back of your mind. ;)
  • Memorial Day- We will NOT have lessons on Memorial Day.  I am hoping to reschedule the Monday students to MAY 24th between 9:00-noon. Please contact me for a time via my email. cindrlz@gmail.com

LET'S PLAY MUSIC

Finally, I wanted to announce that I have been approved as a teacher for a company called Let's Play Music.  If you have not heard of this company, it is a school for 4-7 year old kids.  During their 3 years of school, they learn music theory, appreciation, composition, rhythm, singing, and keyboard skills.  It is a great program and I am proud to now be a part of it.  I had to go through a vigorous interview process and am still in the training stages.  I will be certified by the end of the summer and will be registering students for my first classes in June or July.

I will be holding sample classes and an open house in June for those that are interested. If you know of people in the Davis County area that have kids that are these ages, you will FOR SURE want to let them know about this program! Thanks a bunch!

POLICY CORNER

If you choose to discontinue lessons for longer than 2 weeks, you still owe the full amount for the month of which you cancelled. I will not give refundsIf you choose to stop lessons, you must please provide 30 days PAID notice. All other lessons can be made up.

**Did you read this all the way through???  Send a text to me with the pass code "MAYDAY" for $5 off a late fee!**  (This would be great for those that have a tendency to be a week late...or two...or three.....!!!

April Newsletter

Well, March came in like a lion for sure!  Thanks for all of the nice thoughts and prayers that you all did for me while I was suffering with my TMJD.  I have never been in so much pain and it really helped to have so many people be concerned and care.  You are awesome!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

We had so many students achieve goals this month! Congrats to ALL of the students that were accepted into programs, universities, and colleges. And to those that advanced into State Solo and Ensemble, All State Choirs, and were cast in leading roles in various musicals!! You are all such hard workers and so talented!  I am honored to be your teacher. There are so many of you, I don't dare to name names in the fear that I will forget someone!!  That is really awesome!

REMINDERS

*Don't forget that April payment is due by the 1st!  A LATE FEE will be added to payments received after April 5th. A lot of you have a credit for April because of my cancelling in March.  Others chose to make up the lessons.  If you have made arrangements with me, make sure you do so ASAP.

*Some of you still owe the ANNUAL MUSIC FEE that was due in March.  Please include that with your April payment.

*If you choose to pay via PayPal, please the include $2.00 processing fee.  This is a fee that PayPal charges ME.  Otherwise, you may send payment via check, direct deposit, or google wallet.  If you need information on how to use any of those, please let me know.

*MARCH 31-APRIL 6th is an OFF WEEK!  There will NOT be "normal" lessons held.  We do not need to make up these lessons.  I AM using this week as a make-up week for those that have make-ups that need to be done.  Times are going fast though, if you have one that you want to do next week, please let me know ASAP.  Otherwise, we will get it scheduled at other times in April.

POLICY CORNER

Practicing your assigned songs is a MUST for voice lessons.  The great thing is that you can practice ANYWHERE.  The tough thing is that you can't just "sing."  You MUST practice the things that we talked about during your lesson.

Don't keep singing the same way that you always sing.  Use your practice time to rehearse those things that you might struggle with. Don't just spend the time singing the song without focus. I PROMISE, you will see amazing improvements in a very short amount of time if you put this rule to use!

Don't forget to "like" our page on Facebook!  Click on the link to the right to connect to the page. You can also sign up to the right to have this automatically emailed to you!

That's it for now!!

TMJ!!!!

Hi Everyone!

The universe has a way of humbling us! OF COURSE I would choose to remind everyone about the cancellation policy in this month’s newsletter and THEN come down with TMJD.  For those that have not heard, I have been suffering with a jaw that I can’t open more than about an inch or so.  We have also found an infection in my jaw that is causing a lot of the discomfort.

I spent last week going from various doctors/dentists/chiropractors for help.  Tomorrow, I see a specialist to see if I can’t at least get the pain to go away and get my jaw to open more than an inch. I can talk for short periods of time, but I mostly “grunt” talk! LOL!

I will be cancelling lessons for TODAY (Monday) and TOMORROW (TUESDAY) for sure.  I am hoping that after seeing the specialist tomorrow, I will be able proceed with lessons on Wednesday, March 12th.

As always, you are welcome to either re-schedule the lesson/s or take a credit in payment.  Each missed lesson is equal to $17.50.  If you choose to re-schedule, I have opened up the FIRST WEEK IN APRIL (which is an extra week where normal lessons won’t be held,) for make-ups.

Please respond to this email with the option that you would like to take.

Also, thanks to everyone that send me birthday wishes!  I had a great birthday even though I was highly medicated and couldn’t really talk.  (I think that made for a great day for Jeff as well! J)

I miss you guys so much and can’t wait to get back in the game!  I don’t do well just sitting around or watching others have all of the fun! The weather here has been so nice and Jeff and the boys took full advantage while I watched from the sidelines!!  So, I can’t wait to get out there again!

Keep practicing and I will keep everyone informed of how things are going to work out this week.

MARCH NEWSLETTER

Hello Folks!

February was a CRAZY month for a lot of people!  Hopefully, March really will “come in like a lion, and go out like a lamb.”

PAYMENT DUE

Thank you to those of you that have already sent in your March payment. I really appreciate your promptness, and my bills appreciate getting paid!  ;) For those that have not gotten the payment in yet, use this as a reminder!  A late fee will be added if I receive it past March 5th! Also, I STILL have not received payment from some of you for February lessons!  At this point, there is a $20 late fee for February lessons.  Please add February payment to your March payment.

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!

Speaking of March 5th! That is my BIRTHDAY!!! Hooray for getting older! Be gentle with me, for some reason, 36 feels a lot older than 35! But I read the other day that 40 is the new 20!  That makes more sense in my brain since I do ACT like a teenager most of the time!

WEEK OFF!!!

ALSO, If you noticed, March was scheduled to have an “off week” from the 16th -22nd.   Because February was so crazy, I would like to get some consistency with most of you before we take a week off.  SOOOOO…. I am CHANGING the “off week” to MARCH 31st- APRIL 5th !!!  Mark this on your calendars.  There will NOT be any lessons that week, and we won’t need a make up for that week either.  There will still be 4 lessons in April for most of you and for those that will only have 3 lessons in April, you will have 5 lessons in MAY.  Contact me if you need some clarification on this.  I know that it can be confusing, especially for new students.

MARCH MUSIC FEE

Don’t forget that MARCH is the month where the extra $15 music fee is due.  This goes to pay for more music so that we can sing awesome songs!  And, I have a few things just waiting to be purchased and sung!!

If you have sent your payment already, you can add it to April payment.

POLICY CORNER:

This month I want to remind everyone of the policy about missed lessons. I am VERY lenient with my cancellation policy. You will find that most teachers either require a 24 hour cancellation notice, OR will not offer a make-up lesson at all. My policy goes as follows:

You MUST give 3 a hour notice of a canceled lesson to qualify for a make up. If you do not give the notice, you do NOT get a make up, you forfeit the lesson.

With the 3 hour notice, you have a CHOICE of a make-up or to forfeit the lesson. Please don’t ask for a credit for multiple lessons that you canceled in the month. Doing so, causes an awkward exchange since it is not fair for me to have to adjust my monthly budget due to your cancellations. Sometimes, the answer is to just forfeit the lesson.

I expect the same from myself. If I cancel lessons, I offer a make up OR a credit.  I am completely prepared to lose income due to my cancelling lessons, and feel that it’s only fair that I offer a credit, especially when the cancelation is short notice.

I understand that emergencies happen and I will take those into consideration on a case by case basis. An emergency would be defined as a death in the family, or a serious medical emergency, a car accident, or things of that sort.  Doctor visits (which should be scheduled AROUND lessons,) Being sick, Being stuck in the city, family photos, school concerts, or other events that would be possible to give 3 hour notice, do NOT constitute an emergency.

To put it simply, it is not “fair” for me to lose money when I cancel lessons, AND when YOU cancel lessons. Please remember that I rely on lesson money as a form of income to pay my own bills and help feed my family.  Please use the policy as your guide.

YOU cancel- you make-up or you forfeit
I cancel- I offer a make-up or a credit

Communication is the key!  If you find that your lesson time is not working, let’s find a new time!

That does it for March Newsletter!!!  Have a good month!
